Moon In The Day : A Beautiful Tale of Sacrificial Love and Fate, A Show That You Mustn’t Miss it!

Part 1 - The Opening

Moon In The Day is a Korean drama that tells the story of a man named Do Ha, a proud general of the Silla dynasty. One day, war breaks out between Silla and Gaya, and Do Ha is ordered to kill the general from Gaya to secure victory. Ruthless in battle, he not only defeats the Gaya general but also hunts down his family—including his wife and daughter.

While the family faces a brutal public execution, the daughter miraculously escapes. Her name is Han Ri Ta, and with a heart full of hatred and sorrow, she vows to take revenge against Do Ha for the cruel death of her family.

The story doesn’t end in the past—it leaps forward 1,500 years into the present day. A young woman named Kyeong Hwa is haunted by recurring dreams of her past life as Han Ri Ta. One day, fate leads her to cross paths with Han Jun Ho, a popular actor known for being childish, self-centered, and caught up in scandals—including one involving his co-star, Jung Yi Seul.

Jun Ho’s older brother, Han Min Oh, is the CEO of his agency and constantly spoils him. In an effort to clean up Jun Ho’s public image, the agency pairs him with Kyeong Hwa, who now works as a firefighter and has earned the nickname "Miracle" for her heroic actions.

Their encounter doesn’t go smoothly. Han Jun Ho makes a terrible first impression on Kyeong Hwa, causing her to strongly dislike him. But everything changes when a sudden accident strikes—Jun Ho faints inside his car, which then plunges into a river. Witnessing the scene, Kyeong Hwa instinctively jumps in to rescue him.

She manages to pull him out of the vehicle, but in the process, she gets trapped and nearly drowns herself. Just when it seems too late, someone unexpectedly saves her. It’s Do Ha.

Yes—Do Ha's spirit, bound to Han Ri Ta's reincarnation, has been haunting her across lifetimes. And this time, he appears not as her enemy, but as her savior.

Nah the point of this drama is here. Even though Han Jun No can be lifted up, he ended up dying in that accident. Kyeong Hwa felt sad that she couldn't save him and ended up fainting too. After the body of An Jun No will be buried, Do Ha took a chance to possess Han Jun No’s body and ended up killing her. But why? Why did he save her but in the end wanted to kill her?

Now here lies the core twist of the story.

Although Han Jun Ho is rescued from the river, he doesn't survive the accident. His body is recovered, but he is declared dead. Kyeong Hwa, devastated by her failure to save him, collapses from exhaustion and sorrow.

As Han Jun Ho’s body is prepared for burial, Do Ha seizes the opportunity to return—this time by possessing Jun Ho’s body.

But instead of reuniting peacefully with Han Ri Ta’s reincarnation, he shocks her by attempting to kill her.

Why?
Why would he save her from drowning… only to try to end her life in the next breath?

Part 2 - Do Ha in Han Jun No’s Body

After multiple failed attempts to kill Kyeong Hwa, Do Ha realizes there's something protecting her—an amulet that wards off vengeful spirits. Unable to harm her directly, he devises a new plan: instead of pushing her away, he’ll keep her close.

And so, he arranges for Kyeong Hwa to become his personal bodyguard. The plan works flawlessly. Everyone around him believes that Han Jun Ho is suffering from post-traumatic stress after the accident, and no one questions his unusual request. Concerned for his mental state, they approve the arrangement—unknowingly playing right into Do Ha's hands.

Do Ha has only one wish: to kill the reincarnation of Han Ri Ta before he ever has to witness her death again. But things don't go according to plan. The more time he spends near Kyeong Hwa, the more he learns about who she truly is—not just as Han Ri Ta’s reincarnation, but as a person in the present. Now that he inhabits a human body, one that can touch her, be near her, feel her, his desire grows—no longer just for revenge, but for something deeper, darker, and far more dangerous.

His hatred begins to blur with longing. And that’s when everything starts to unravel. Adding to his torment, Kyeong Hwa continues to dream vividly of her past life—as Han Ri Ta, and of Do Ha himself. Those dreams become a tether, binding his soul even more tightly to Han Jun Ho’s body. No matter how much rage he once carried, he can’t bring himself to leave. Then it hits him.The only true happiness left in his hollow existence is being remembered—not feared, not forgiven, just remembered—by Han Ri Ta, even if it’s through the fragile dreams of her reincarnation. That simple, quiet recognition becomes the only light left in his cursed eternity.

Part 3: Kyeong Hwa, Karma, and the Cursed

After Kyeong Hwa becomes entangled with Han Jun Ho, who is secretly being possessed by Do Ha, she begins to experience vivid dreams of Han Ri Ta’s life. The deeper she falls into those memories, the more she finds herself falling in love with Do Ha—not just from the past, but also in his current form.

But expressing that love isn’t easy. Yi Seul, Han Jun Ho’s ex-girlfriend, constantly tries to come between them. Still, this time, it’s different—Han Jun Ho (possessed by Do Ha) clearly favors Kyeong Hwa over Yi Seul. As Kyeong Hwa learns the full truth of her past life—how Han Ri Ta was Do Ha’s wife—her love grows stronger. Yet, alongside that love comes deep anxiety. Accidents begin to happen around her and Jun Ho, one after another. Troubled by these events, she seeks guidance from a monk.

The monk delivers a chilling truth: these accidents are karmic consequences, and only Kyeong Hwa herself can break the curse. To make matters worse, Han Min Oh, Jun Ho’s brother, attempts to kill her—believing that doing so will bring the real Jun Ho back. Even her best friend nearly dies trying to protect her. Everything starts spiraling out of control.

Then, Kyeong Hwa dreams again—this time, of the true origin of her karma.

In the past, Han Ri Ta, tired of being used as a political tool by Do Ha’s father, So Ri Bu, attempts to kill him. Branded a traitor, she goes on the run. Do Ha, despite the danger, stays by her side and kills anyone who threatens them. But this blind loyalty and bloodshed leave Han Ri Ta heartbroken.

She realizes their love is doomed by violence and tragedy. In the end, she kills Do Ha with her own hands—whispering, “I love you, My Lord.”

Kyeong Hwa awakens from that haunting dream, carrying the same sorrow and clarity Han Ri Ta once held. Believing their love is cursed, she chooses to distance herself from An Jun Ho.

But Do Ha, still in Jun Ho’s body, won’t allow history to repeat itself.

This time, he reveals a shocking truth—there’s a third presence in this curse, someone interfering with their fate. Do Ha vows to protect Kyeong Hwa from every accident, every threat. No longer consumed by revenge, he declares:

“What matters now is being by your side.”

To break the cycle of karma, he believes they must stay together. Because somewhere in the shadows, a third soul is pulling the strings—and the only way to defeat this curse... is to face it side by side.

Part 4: Seo Ri Bu — The Third Wheel in the Circle of Reincarnation

The true source of the curse begins to surface: Seo Ri Bu, the man who once stood in the shadows of Do Ha and Han Ri Ta’s love, emerges as the third soul bound to the cycle of reincarnation.

Greedy and power-hungry, Seo Ri Bu used Han Ri Ta to manipulate Do Ha, keeping him loyal and obedient. Every time Do Ha followed his cruel commands, Seo Ri Bu reaped the rewards—earning praise from the king while pushing the couple into deeper suffering.Tired of watching her husband be used as a pawn, Han Ri Ta attempted to kill Seo Ri Bu. But the plan failed.

Enraged, Seo Ri Bu cursed her—the very act that sparked this endless karma. Han Ri Ta believed that death would free her and Do Ha from the curse, but her tragic choice only sealed their fates. Instead of release, it trapped the three of them in an eternal cycle of pain and rebirth.

Now, to finally be reincarnated himself, Seo Ri Bu must kill Han Ri Ta’s reincarnation—Kyeong Hwa

.
He returns as a vengeful spirit, possessing a man named Seok Chul Hwan, a former CEO of Beginning Entertainment—someone Kyeong Hwa once saved. His new identity allows him to infiltrate An Jun Ho’s world unnoticed. Behind the scenes, he manipulates those around him to carry out his plan.

The first was Gu Tae Ju, who failed—and was immediately killed by Seok Chul Hwan himself.

Next, he targets Attorney Gye Gyeong Se, pushing him to get close to An Man Oh, Jun Ho’s brother. Together, they try to persuade Man Oh to kill Kyeong Hwa, hoping it would bring the real An Jun Ho back. But the plan collapses—Man Oh, a kind-hearted soul, simply can’t bring himself to harm someone as pure as Kyeong Hwa.

Time is running out. Seo Ri Bu must kill Kyeong Hwa before she turns 30, or lose his chance at reincarnation forever. In desperation, he turns to Yi Seul, fueling her jealousy and rage toward Kyeong Hwa. But that plan fails too—because Kyeong Hwa’s loyal friend, Na Yeon, is the one who ends up injured instead.

Now, enraged and out of options, Seo Ri Bu decides to do it himself. He tracks down Kyeong Hwa and Do Ha—now hiding in a secret safehouse—and swears to end the curse with his own hands.

But Do Ha won’t let it happen. Even as a spirit trapped in another man’s body, Do Ha is willing to sacrifice everything—his soul, his afterlife, even his final chance at peace—just to keep Kyeong Hwa alive.

Part 5 - A Beautiful Good Bye

Do Ha has been hiding a painful truth from Kyeong Hwa—to fully break the curse and ensure her safety, he must kill Seo Ri Bu himself. But that act comes with a devastating cost: Do Ha will vanish forever.

Still, he accepts his fate. Because now, he understands the reason why he’s been bound to Han Ri Ta’s reincarnation for centuries—it’s not revenge, nor guilt, but simply to make sure she lives and finds happiness. And now, she does. Kyeong Hwa is no longer alone, surrounded by people who love and cherish her. That is enough for him. After defeating Seo Ri Bu, Do Ha disappears, leaving nothing behind but an empty body—An Jun Ho dies a second time. The grief crushes Kyeong Hwa. Her heart carries a hole no one else can fill.

But then, a miracle happens. An Jun Ho’s real soul returns. He wakes up with no memory of the time he was possessed by Do Ha. To him, Kyeong Hwa is a stranger. Yet something about her feels familiar, like a shadow he can’t chase. In the end he decides to meet her and tells her that maybe he is not the one, who loved Kyeing Hwa but the others. He gives the good bye farewell letter that Do Ha writes.

Kyeong Hwa smiles, heart heavy, but healing. She finally understands—it wasn’t An Jun Ho she loved, but Do Ha, who had always stayed beside her in silence, in sorrow, and in sacrifice.

With that clarity, she lets go. She chooses to live on—as Kyeong Hwa, not Han Ri Ta. And Jun Ho too walks forward, into a future free of burdens they no longer have to carry.

That night, a final dream comes to her.

She sees Han Ri Ta and Do Ha once more—together, not torn by war or duty. In another life, where no curse exists, where they never had to kill or die for love, perhaps they’ll meet again. Perhaps they’ll fall in love again. But in peace.
